School driver is someone who is employed by the school administrator to drive in the school. There are usually drivers in the public and private schools. The need for travelling necessitates the need to hire drivers.
These drivers are meant to drive the school officials, staffs and students for different purposes. Whatever the case, it has been observed that majority of these drivers do not know who they really are. And so, some have made grievous mistakes in discharging their onerous task.
Nowadays, very many private schools are employing drivers to drive, especially the little children to schools. Only a few public schools are still having drivers to drive in the government schools.
Therefore, it is absolutely important to consider the personality, temperance and the full portrait of a school driver, either in the government, or private schools.

A school driver should see himself as a noble, diligent and faithful teacher through whom the children would learn on a daily basis. One of the arduous task of a driver is that of imparting positive values into the children. This is because they see him as a role model who they look on as qualified to drive. With the example in his own life, the children are to emulate the dignity of labour, the essence of patience, tolerance, temperance, selflessness, endurance, diligence and watchfulness. Teaching in an informal way is the key to inculcate moral and other positive values in the children.
A driver is a militant soldier to the children. As a soldier, he defends them against any form of aggression. He would not allow them to be bullied inside the box by anyone – a bully among the students, or outsiders.
A closer portrait of a noble driver is to that of being a soldier is that he is a second officer. He safeguards the children from any form of danger minor or major accident. Therefore, he secures the lives and property of the kids by all means. At every bus stop, the driver is very cautious and meticulous in dropping them off safely to re-unite with their waiting parents. There are so many havocs and accidents that have wreaked and claimed countless lives of many innocent children because the driver drove carelessly or dropped the children at a dangerous, busy traffics which posed great danger to the lives of the children.
There have been several cases of accidents involving school children that have been reported everywhere .One student was reportedly fell off of the school bus on a motion just because the door of the bus was not carefully closed by the driver .There are numerous instances that the school bus driver needs to play the role of a security to the children.
More importantly is the fact that the school bus driver is a father to the school children. So, he expected to play a big fatherly role to the children without making any amorous advances towards any of the female children. He should never attempt to initiate or indoctrinate the boys into wrongful acts such as smoking, drinking of alcohol, womanising, cultism or other notorious vices that are peculiar to the men folks. A father is patient, with his children, he discipline and corrects them in love when they have done something wrong. This attitude would foster his love, kindness and respect into the hearts of the children.
During the course of discharging his duty as a school bus driver, he should take on the mask of servant-hood towards the little school kids, or else, he would not be able to effectually and efficiently serve the children. Now, the children are the reason for his employment. So, he should see it as a privilege to serve the children. This does not mean that he would lose the respect or reverence to be accorded him by the children. Rather, the action would greatly enhance him to be focused on his duty .
In summary, a school bus driver is smart, agile, strong, diligent, loving and unassuming. He does not smoke or drink alcohol while driving, he imparts moral values into the children. And as a father, he cares and secures the safety of the children absolutely. He cares for them with genuine intention as a father.
